PM Vishwakarma Yojana gives traditional artisans and craftspeople free skill training with a ₹500 per-day stipend, a ₹15,000 toolkit e-voucher, and collateral-free loans of up to ₹3 lakh at a concessional 5% interest. Who is eligible?
You must be an artisan or craftsperson working with your hands and tools in one of the 18 notified family-based trades, aged 18 or above on the date of registration, and currently self-employed (not a government employee). Only one member per family can register, and you should not have taken a similar central/state credit-based artisan loan (like PMEGP or Mudra) in the last few years — check the current rule during registration.
What you actually receive
The benefits come in a clear order: first, recognition through a PM Vishwakarma certificate and ID card; then free basic training (5–7 days, with optional advanced training) paid at ₹500 per day; a ₹15,000 toolkit e-voucher to buy modern tools; and finally a collateral-free enterprise loan — ₹1 lakh first (repay in 18 months), and ₹2 lakh after that (30 months), all at just 5% interest. You also earn a small incentive for digital (UPI) transactions.
Documents you need
- Aadhaar card (with linked mobile number for OTP)
- Bank account details (Aadhaar-linked for DBT)
- Ration card (or family member Aadhaar details)
- Trade/occupation details
How to apply step by step
- Visit your nearest Common Service Centre (CSC) — registration is done through CSC with biometric Aadhaar authentication.
- Complete Aadhaar e-KYC and fill the registration form with your trade and bank details.
- Your application goes through a three-step verification (Gram Panchayat/ULB, District, and Screening Committee).
- Once approved, download your certificate and ID card from pmvishwakarma.gov.in, then start training.
Common mistakes to avoid
Don’t pay any agent to “guarantee” approval — registration through CSC is free. Make sure your mobile is linked to Aadhaar (the OTP won’t come otherwise), and confirm your trade is in the list of 18 before applying. Keep your bank account Aadhaar-seeded so the stipend and toolkit amount reach you through DBT.
Frequently asked questions
Is the ₹15,000 given in cash?
No — it is an e-voucher/e-RUPI to buy tools, credited after you complete basic training.
Do I have to take the loan?
No. Training, certificate and toolkit are separate; the loan is optional and only if you want to grow your enterprise.
Can two people from one family apply?
Generally only one member per family is eligible — confirm during registration.
