Under PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi, eligible landholding farmers get ₹6,000 a year — paid as three equal ₹2,000 instalments straight into their bank account by Direct Benefit Transfer. The most common reason an instalment gets stuck is an incomplete e-KYC or Aadhaar–bank mismatch. This guide explains who is eligible, how to complete e-KYC, and how to check your beneficiary status on the official portal pmkisan.gov.in.

What is PM-Kisan?
PM-Kisan is a central income-support scheme for landholding farmer families. Eligible farmers receive ₹6,000 every year, released in three instalments of ₹2,000 through DBT. The money is meant to help with input costs like seeds, fertiliser and other farming needs.
Who is eligible (and who is not)
All landholding farmer families with cultivable land are eligible, subject to exclusions. You are not eligible if you (or a family member) are an income-tax payer, a serving/retired government employee above certain ranks, a professional like a doctor/lawyer/CA in practice, or a constitutional post holder. “Family” here means husband, wife and minor children.
Three things that must be done to get the money
- e-KYC — Aadhaar-based verification (OTP or biometric/face). Without it, the instalment is held even if you are eligible.
- Aadhaar-seeded bank account — your bank account must be linked (seeded) with Aadhaar for DBT to work.
- Land seeding — your land records should be verified and linked at the block/tehsil level.
How to complete e-KYC (free)
- Open pmkisan.gov.in and click “e-KYC” in the Farmers Corner.
- Enter your Aadhaar number, get the OTP on your Aadhaar-linked mobile and submit.
- If OTP e-KYC fails, use Face Authentication in the PM-Kisan mobile app, or visit your nearest CSC for biometric e-KYC.
How to check your beneficiary status
- On pmkisan.gov.in, go to Farmers Corner → Know Your Status.
- Enter your Registration Number (or find it using your mobile/Aadhaar), verify the OTP and view your instalment history.
- The status page shows whether e-KYC, land seeding and Aadhaar-bank seeding are “Yes” — any “No” here is usually why an instalment is pending.
Instalment not received? Common fixes
- Complete e-KYC if it shows pending.
- Get your bank account Aadhaar-seeded (ask your bank branch).
- Correct a name/Aadhaar mismatch using the “Edit Aadhaar Failure Record” option.
- Check land-seeding status with your local agriculture/revenue office.
For the date of the next instalment, always rely on the official portal or a government announcement — dates are decided by the government and are not fixed in advance.
Frequently asked questions
Is PM-Kisan e-KYC free?
Yes. OTP e-KYC on the portal and face e-KYC in the app are free; CSC biometric e-KYC may involve a small standard service fee.
I have land but never received any instalment — why?
Most often it is pending e-KYC, an un-seeded bank account, or land records not yet verified. Check “Know Your Status” to see which one shows “No”.
Can tenant farmers get PM-Kisan?
The benefit is for landholding families as per land records; purely tenant/leased cultivators are generally not covered.
